This paper analyzes the system for recognizing and protecting 20th-century architecture in Uzbekistan. The country has recently initiated a review of its regulatory framework, including in the area of built heritage conservation. In this rapidly evolving scenario, there is an increasing focus on the modernist architecture of the Soviet era, which is starting to be included in the State Cadastre of Cultural Heritage. The study focuses on the regulatory instruments and opera-tional strategies that accompany the heritagization process. It highlights how the increase in resources and cultural awareness is not yet supported by adequate technical and operational skills essential to ensure informed interventions. To address this need, the research tested the statement of significance as a ready-to-use methodological tool, a practical and replicable system that can be applied in other contexts, offering a framework for developing more structured, effective, and sustainable conservation interventions.
