This paper explores how interior architecture, and temporary exhibition and installation design in particular, can serve as a direct means of communication between architectural design and civil society. Owing to its ephemeral and multidisciplinary nature, temporary installation design can rapidly interpret and translate contemporary concerns into spatial experiences, revealing the hidden meanings of places and generating new urban narratives. Drawing on a series of educational projects undertaken in Milan, the paper demonstrates how interior architecture can transform academic research into tangible experiences, restoring to architectural design its most immediate, participatory, and communicative dimensions.

Abstract
This paper explores how interior architecture, and temporary exhibition and installation design in particular, can serve as a direct means of communication between architectural design and civil society. Owing to its ephemeral and multidisciplinary nature, temporary installation design can rapidly interpret and translate contemporary concerns into spatial experiences, revealing the hidden meanings of places and generating new urban narratives. Drawing on a series of educational projects undertaken in Milan, the paper demonstrates how interior architecture can transform academic research into tangible experiences, restoring to architectural design its most immediate, participatory, and communicative dimensions.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
