AI in the Technology Sector – Dual and Dark side of AI

This document considers the dark side of AI and its dual use. Starting from the sunny side of artificial intelligence and key added values provided by this technology nowadays almost embedded in any sector of daily life. As it happens often there is a dark side of this technology starting from a broad range of misuse, scams and cybercrimes operated thank to AI. The second topic, tightly related to the dark side of AI is its dual use. Nowadays one of the warfare key actors together with cyberwar attacks is artificial intelligence. AI is empowering intelligence, situational awareness, risk assessment, decision making. Intelligent and autonomous weapons, and more. All these aspects not forgetting the sister side of physical warfare that is the information and communication side deeply influenced by mainstream information, opinion formation, nudging and fake news. Last but even more relevant the economic and financial side of “confrontations”.
