I terremoti e le loro urgenze: casi studio di chiese agostiniane in Valnerina e a Norcia

After recalling the effects of the major earthquakes that have devastated Norcia and the Valnerina over the centuries, the author offers a series of reflections on the interactions between earthquakes and reconstruction, considering it as a physical phenomenon that is never exclusively architectural, but one characterized by profound urban, economic, social, cultural, religious, and anthropological-ritual implications, in which sacred images and relics have played a significant role. Focusing on cases related to Augustinian spirituality, the essay also examines some of the challenges associated with the 2016 earthquake and the current ability to, unlike in the past, recreate a new religious geography based on the shared veneration of saints believed to be particularly effective in protecting against earthquakes.
