The volume brings together an extensive selection of Sunday homilies delivered in Pavia by Father Costantino Ruggeri (1925–2007), a Franciscan friar and renowned, prolific artist who collaborated with several leading architects, including Gio Ponti. Four essays provide a framework for understanding these homilies, examining their content and highlighting their enduring relevance, solid theological foundations, and close relationship with the Franciscan homiletic tradition. Within this interpretative framework, Zanzottera’s essay explores the relationship between Father Costantino and the Franciscan tradition, focusing on the key principles of Minorite-Franciscan preaching practices as well as on the connections established by the Franciscans with the African continent, where Father Costantino designed and built numerous architectural works.
