The innovation of 3D digitization tools has become a pivotal development in fields such as archaeology and architecture. This innovation is characterized by the implementation of 3D models that pave the way for new approaches to the preservation, conservation, and restoration of archaeological heritage. Consequently, it is essential to explore the frameworks developed within archaeology through the application of emerging digital technologies. While traditional archaeological methods are well-documented, the recent surge in publications and research necessitates a reassessment of this evolving landscape. To address this, a bibliometric analysis is conducted using data sourced from Scopus, culminating in the identification of five key categories that define the intersection of BIM and archaeology. The analysis incorporates approximately one hundred sources, including books, book chapters, scientific articles, and international conference proceedings, to establish a contemporary perspective on tools and technologies applied to 3D digitization in archaeology.
