People with some form of recognized disability are approximately 100 million in Europe alone, a figure that is in-creasing considering the vulnerability of other people reported for example by age, gender, gender identity, faith, and cultural background, according to the Design for All approach. The paper aims to convey the importance of the culture of accessibility and to share the initiatives of the European Commission to promote the topic and the dissemination of the Design for All approach, to enable all people to have equal opportunities to participate in eve-ry aspect of society. To this end, research was conducted using mainly EU institutional sources to survey actions related to the topic of accessibility. The results were grouped and summarized to facilitate their dissemination. What emerges is a great effort by the EU to improve the inclusion, equality and participation of citizens in society. Above all, standards and tools, such as AccessibleEU, are essential to promote and fully understand accessibility and its applications in all contexts of community life.
