Gio Ponti e l'episodio della piazza del grande magazzino De Bijenkorf a Eindhoven (1964-1969)

It is not frequent to come across urban interventions while approaching Gio Ponti’s prolific creative adventure, although the Milanese architect often debated in his magazines the social orientations of architecture. The paper examines the project for the de Bijenkorf department store in Eindhoven (1964-69), and particularly the related project for its Piazza. A case study that allows some reflections on the original contribution given by Gio Ponti in the design of urban space.
