Crosstalk coupling effects may cause performance degradation to low-power instrument transformers (LPITs). In this article, the measurement method and then the crosstalk mechanism for a novel low-voltage combined low-power current and voltage instrument transformer are presented. Subsequently, the crosstalk characterization by means of measurement test is comprehensively performed with respect to IEC 61869 Standards. More specifically, the impact of an adjacent grounded metallic wall is evaluated, and then, the immunity behavior against external electric and magnetic fields related to the proximity of an energized and a current carrying conductor is verified. An integration test is further conducted on the combined transformer to validate proper operation and underlying mutual coupling between the voltage and current sensors. Suggestions are provided for the purpose of improving the measuring accuracy of the combined transformer.
