Looking at the increasing climatic and environmental pressures, urban planning is being called upon to undergo a radical transformation. This article explores how 'new forms of planning' move beyond traditional approaches by promoting systematic adaptation grounded in advanced knowledge - from ecosystem assessment to Multisensory Urban Climate Zones - and innovative methods that integrate regulatory, design, and participatory tools. From the management of soil as an active ecological infrastructure to the principle of hydrological invariance, the analysis highlights the urgent need for a holistic and cross-sectoral approach. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to overcome existing implementation gaps in Italy and to foster intrinsically resilient cities and territories capable of translating ecological awareness into concrete action towards a sustainable future.
Di fronte alle crescenti pressioni climatiche e ambientali, la pianificazione urbana è chiamata a una radicale trasformazione. L'articolo esplora come le "nuove forme del piano" superino le logiche tradizionali, promuovendo un adattamento sistematico basato su una conoscenza avanzata – dalla valutazione ecosistemica alle Multisensory Urban Climate Zones – e su metodi innovativi che integrano strumenti regolativi, progettuali e partecipativi. Dalla gestione del suolo come infrastruttura ecologica attiva all'invarianza idrologica, emerge l'urgenza di un approccio olistico e intersettoriale. Il focus evidenzia la necessità di superare le lacune attuative italiane, spingendo verso città e territori intrinsecamente resilienti, capaci di tradurre la consapevolezza ecologica in azioni concrete per un futuro sostenibile.
