This chapter examines the dynamics and interplay of individual and collaborative use of ICT (information and communication technology) tools during a project-based design learning course (where "design" is understood as product development/engineering). During the COVID-19 pandemic, five teams—each consisting of 8–9 members from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and Austria—worked together in a geographically distributed setting. The findings show that students engage in both individual and collaborative modes of work; however, the dynamics of ICT usage shift over the course of the program. Specialized design tools for 3D modeling become predominant only in the later stages, whereas visualization tools are used more extensively during the initial phases. Finally, the results indicate that remote collaboration necessitates the continuous and frequent use of communication tools—such as video conferencing and instant messaging—throughout the entire course. These findings can assist educators and researchers in engineering education in better structuring their courses for post-pandemic environments. (In German)

Abstract
(In German)| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
