Patrimonio architettonico e turismo lento: politiche di riuso lungo un cammino storico = Architectural heritage and slow tourism: policies of reuse along a historic pathway

The article proposes a reflection on slow tourism as a lever for the regeneration and conservation of the architectural and cultural heritage to reuse what already exists in the territory. The article develops this proposal through the analysis of one of the main Eu-ropean examples of slow tourism: the Way of St. James in Spain. The case represents a unique experience in which tourism development, which started in the early 1990s, was accompanied by a regeneration of the architectural and cultural heritage along the route. The strategies, tools and outcomes of the intense process of recovery of the disused heritage along the Way are thus shown. From the analysis it is possible to identify a series of guidelines for processes of regeneration and conservation of the heritage along lines of slow tourism, useful also for actions recently promoted in the Italian context.
