This paper introduces the project submitted to the 2024 call for proposals issued by the ProArch Scientific Society. The project emerged from a dialogue between academics and students from different educational backgrounds, brought together by a shared interest in exploring transdisciplinary design approaches rooted in Mediterranean culture. The proposed intervention focuses on the urban area between the historic city centre and the university facilities in Perugia, developing strategies to reconnect fragmented urban spaces through the hybridisation of two distinct ground conditions: one natural and the other mineral. The ‘street’ becomes a design device inspired by ancient aqueducts, capable of regenerating urban and landscape connections. The new building, replacing the existing university canteen, acts as an urban condenser between these two ground conditions, accommodating collective facilities and student housing. The intervention as a whole establishes a new metropolitan topology capable of transforming residual spaces into a contemporary and inclusive urban landscape, in which the city becomes ‘porous’ and liveable for people of all generations.

Abstract
The intervention as a whole establishes a new metropolitan topology capable of transforming residual spaces into a contemporary and inclusive urban landscape, in which the city becomes ‘porous’ and liveable for people of all generations.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
