This research explores the intersection of environmental sustainability and conservation within the restoration sector, examining how it aligns with the UN 2030 Agenda, the Green Deal, and Sustainable Development Goals. A systematic analysis of 205 economic operators was conducted, including 134 members of Assorestauro the Italian Restoration Association, and 71 professionals featured in the 2020 Italian Architectural Conservation Stories observatory issued by Fondazione Symbola and Fassa Bortolo. The methodology involved documenting each operator's sustainability practices, considering commitment factors such as governance, communication, green products and materials, partnerships, environmental certifications and protocols, to provide a comprehensive understanding of sustainable practices within their specific area of expertise. Results indicate that 48% of operators invest in environmental sustainability through voluntary tools like EPDs, environmental rating systems, and sustainable product lines. The study highlights challenges including the lack of standardized sustainability criteria for restoration materials, regulatory delays, and a focus on green narratives over demonstrable impact. It concludes by emphasizing the need for greater integration among sector operators, the importance of industry associations, and the contribution of research in advancing and leveraging environmental sustainability strategies in the restoration sector in the Italian scenario.

Abstract
It concludes by emphasizing the need for greater integration among sector operators, the importance of industry associations, and the contribution of research in advancing and leveraging environmental sustainability strategies in the restoration sector in the Italian scenario.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
