The book reconstructs thirty years of activity of architects Vincenzo Corvino (1965) and Giovanni Multari (1963) in the form of a dialogic tale: award-winning buildings and projects, but also a story about the profession of architect. In six chapters, the “why” and “how” of a design approach that is both pragmatic and experimental, always rigorous and moved by a strong ethical tension, which conceives architecture as a dialogue with the city, the landscape and every pre-existence, are highlighted. Both in the restoration, reuse and completion of existing buildings, which represent a substantial part of their work, and in new buildings such as schools, residences, churches, sports facilities, shopping centres and offices, their architecture always originates from a critical interpretation of the urban or landscape context. Recent years have seen the Corvino + Multari studio take on prestigious commissions such as the restoration of the Capodimonte Museum in Naples (2020-2025) and the new Italian Embassy in Nairobi (2022-2028), while increasing diversification characterises complex urban regeneration projects in Mantua, Livorno, Cagliari, Messina and Brescia. In dialogue with the volume's editor, Corvino and Multari explain how, in the face of the great challenges of ecological transition and urban redevelopment, the social role and profession of the architect must be profoundly renewed: less and less an author, far from any demiurgic ambitions, the architect must take on the role of sensitive interpreter and director in increasingly complex design groups.

Abstract
In dialogue with the volume's editor, Corvino and Multari explain how, in the face of the great challenges of ecological transition and urban redevelopment, the social role and profession of the architect must be profoundly renewed: less and less an author, far from any demiurgic ambitions, the architect must take on the role of sensitive interpreter and director in increasingly complex design groups.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
