This work presents a cloud-based, distributed architecture designed to manage Building Information Modeling (BIM) information flows, focusing on ensuring compliance with privacy, copyright protection, and data security standards. As BIM models and related documentations are increasingly shared through cloud platforms to enhance accessibility and collaboration, several critical concerns arise, especially around the protection of sensitive data and intellectual property rights. The proposed architecture organizes the models and document flow into modular, distributed components, each with tailored access and encryption protocols based on the role of the various actors involved in the process of realizing a BIM-based project. The findings highlight how this distributed and compliant approach can improve the efficiency of BIM collaboration while minimizing risks related to privacy and copyright violations.
