Il capitolo introduce il concetto di design dei servizi, dandone inizialmente una definizione e facendone un breve excursus storico-critico. Poi approfondisce le caratteristiche distintive e qualificanti del design dei servizi rispetto agli altri ambiti di applicazione del design. Commenta infine i servizi premiati dal compasso d’oro.
