Corrosion inhibitors may be used in case of aggressive environments, as a preventative technique (Ad-mixed Corrosion Inhibitors), as well as a repair system (Migrating Corrosion Inhibitors). The perfor-mance of commercial inhibitors as well as the investigation on new organic and inorganic compounds and mixtures have been studied in our research group for more than 20 years. The results are briefly reviewed and the effect on service life is estimated.
