We analysed the maximum number of secured users via upstream and downstream continuous-variable and upstream discrete-variable quantum key distribution (QKD) systems coexisting with classical channels in passive optical networks. We demonstrated that downstream continuous-variable QKD outperforms upstream discrete-variable QKD only for small number of users.
