The arrival in Mantua of the architect Giovanni Battista Vergani (1788-1865) coincided with a great campaign of works for the renovation of the city. Protagonist of the many public and private construction sites of the time, in 1829 he was entrusted with the project for the new façade of the town hall, completed in 1832. Thanks to the intercession of some Mantuan noblemen, landowners who often availed themselves of Vergani’s consultancy to embellish their urban and suburban buildings, even some small villages in the area were able to modernize the most representative buildings based on the architect’s design. The municipalities of Guidizzolo and Canneto sull’Oglio commissioned Vergani to renew their Town Hall offices. The three buildings still exist today and, although different in size and monumentality, present characteristics and affinities worthy of investigation.

Abstract
The three buildings still exist today and, although different in size and monumentality, present characteristics and affinities worthy of investigation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
