This paper addresses the assessment of the eco-nomic and environmental value of Italian industrial Renewable Energy Communities (REC) by examining their establishment criteria, analyzing current incentive prices, and exploring specific scenarios including installation constraints and possible means to their overcome. A case study including four industrial users is considered, and three different scenarios are discussed and compared by suitable economic and environmental performance indicators. The presented results provide an insight on the value of industrial REC, and highlight possible sizing criteria.

Abstract

This paper addresses the assessment of the eco-nomic and environmental value of Italian industrial Renewable Energy Communities (REC) by examining their establishment criteria, analyzing current incentive prices, and exploring specific scenarios including installation constraints and possible means to their overcome. A case study including four industrial users is considered, and three different scenarios are discussed and compared by suitable economic and environmental performance indicators. The presented results provide an insight on the value of industrial REC, and highlight possible sizing criteria.
