This book adopts an evaluation perspective to explore the implementation of public policies under conditions of uncertainty. Beginning with an examination of the far from exceptional, indeed rather common, factors that can lead to ambiguous decisions, the volume challenges the notion of implementation as mere execution and investigates its main analytical dimensions. It illustrates how different evaluation approaches can help gather information, develop criteria for judgement, and address some of the uncertainties faced by actors involved in policy implementation, thereby supporting policy design with particular attention to the implementation stage. Finally, the book proposes a range of strategies to help the actors involved address the ambiguity and complexity of implementation processes realistically and contribute to achieving outcomes of collective benefit.

Abstract
This book adopts an evaluation perspective to explore the implementation of public policies under conditions of uncertainty. Beginning with an examination of the far from exceptional, indeed rather common, factors that can lead to ambiguous decisions, the volume challenges the notion of implementation as mere execution and investigates its main analytical dimensions. It illustrates how different evaluation approaches can help gather information, develop criteria for judgement, and address some of the uncertainties faced by actors involved in policy implementation, thereby supporting policy design with particular attention to the implementation stage. Finally, the book proposes a range of strategies to help the actors involved address the ambiguity and complexity of implementation processes realistically and contribute to achieving outcomes of collective benefit.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
