This essay discusses the importance of integrating architectural design and technical knowledge in the teaching of Architecture, starting from the observation that the continuous technological development today also has a crucial impact on education and teaching methods. The reference is to the direct experiences carried out by the by the authors and their colleagues within an Architectural Design Studio Built Environment Preservation and Transformation at the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Construction Engineering of Politecnico di Milano, within a Master's Degree in Architecture/Building Architecture, where for years an integrated methodology has been experimented, combining theoretical contributions and practical applications, exploring urban transformation and heritage conservation. The different integrated disciplinary modules focus on a single project proposal that students must develop, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda, to demonstrate how it is possible to promote sustainable development and the enhancement of local cultural heritage through architecture.

Abstract
