This paper addresses the issue of museum accessibility, examining excellent practices, and presenting the design experiments conducted in the teaching activity of a course for the master’s degree in Communication Design at the Politecnico di Milano. The analysis and comparison of practices allows us to outline a framework of possible solutions, techniques, approaches, and strategies. Providing the same content through multiple sensorial registers, as well as seeking synaesthetically coherent translations is useful for expanding access to works of art, cultural heritage and, more generally, contents and information to users with different needs. This does not mean making a content or a work of art accessible, but designing with accessibility requirements, that is, providing expanded modes of use in the initial phases of the project, paying particular attention to the evolution of digital technologies that open up new application possibilities for communication accessible to all.
