The electronics targets the detection and processing of electrical signals directly on the photonic chip. We show the operation of multiplexers for sequentially controlling large-scale photonic systems with few electrical signals and of a transimpedance amplifier for on-chip light monitoring. Abstract

We present the integration of CMOS analog electronics into a pure Silicon Photonics platform, fabricated without modifying the conventional fabrication stack of photonic fabs. The electronics targets the detection and processing of electrical signals directly on the photonic chip. We show the operation of multiplexers for sequentially controlling large-scale photonic systems with few electrical signals and of a transimpedance amplifier for on-chip light monitoring. These examples represent a first step towards complex electronic processing and elaboration in standard Silicon Photonics.
