The Town Hall of Clusone in Alta Valle Seriana (Bergamo) This essay studies the architecture of the Communal Palace of Clusone (Bergamo – Alta Valle Seriana) through the analysis of documents and drawings mostly unpublished. The age investigated, placed between 1831 and 1903, shows how the changes in the space of the architectural complex respond to questions of an economic, political and jurisdictional nature, rather than to practical criteria or aesthetic choices. More than in any other case, the architecture constructed in ‘stone’ is not comprehensible without knowledge of the architecture preserved on ‘paper’ and stored in archives. The documents highlight the role of local administrators, Lombard politicians and technicians (engineers, experts, entrepreneurs) involved in the changes made to the architecture inherited from the Middle Ages and the Modern era.
