Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) aims at assessing and predicting the degradation of structures, systems and components (SSCs), so as to allow anticipating failures and, thus, avoiding accidents. In this contribution, we recognize the efforts by the researchers and experts of the Reliability Society in the development of PHM methods and briefly point at some of the challenges for the application of PHM in practice.
