The topic of strategies for the protection and enhancement of the urban environment is still open despite the disciplinary debate is wide and articulated. To identify the strategies for the conservation and compatible intervention on the built heritage is necessary an overview of the city and an approach to the individual building. The aim of the paper is to show the potentiality of this dual look (at different scales), essential for the identification of strategies to define the role of the heritage for our cities. Monza, a city in Brianza in the North of Italy, is an example of this possibility. It is therefore a matter of mending the links that the individual buildings, sometimes with anonymous characteristics, interweaved with others made by the same society that produced the different cities of the past within the multi-layered city. Reconstructing the different urban environments of the past, not only of the historical downtown, but also of the peripheral and expansion areas, represents an important opportunity for the city to rediscover itself.

Abstract
Reconstructing the different urban environments of the past, not only of the historical downtown, but also of the peripheral and expansion areas, represents an important opportunity for the city to rediscover itself.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
