This paper gives an overview about how shape memory alloys can be used to the purpose of making tuned mass dampers adaptive and, thus, able to avoid mistuning with the primary system to be damped. Different configurations are taken into consideration, also performing detailed comparisons for given features of the tuned mass dampers. Finally, one of the configurations is shown to be able to follow the shifts of two (or more) eigenfrequencies of the primary system with a good level of independence, thus obtaining a multi-frequency adaptive tuned mass damper.

Abstract
This paper gives an overview about how shape memory alloys can be used to the purpose of making tuned mass dampers adaptive and, thus, able to avoid mistuning with the primary system to be damped. Different configurations are taken into consideration, also performing detailed comparisons for given features of the tuned mass dampers. Finally, one of the configurations is shown to be able to follow the shifts of two (or more) eigenfrequencies of the primary system with a good level of independence, thus obtaining a multi-frequency adaptive tuned mass damper.File in questo prodotto:
