The paper focuses on the intervention on the Cascina di Sacconago (Busto Arsizio, Italy) by OASI architects agency. The project shows a specific design approach based on “fragment” or “collage”. The project is defined by a series of graftings that follow the original nature of the building. From the point of view of the external volume, the building maintains its original main features with exposed brickwork and original texture for the façade facing the street and a roof of recycled tiles. The internal façade also follows the nature of the existing building and presents a white plastered front and a metal roof pitch. The intention to work ‘by parts’ or ‘fragments’ also guides the interior design solutions. The ground floor is treated as a continuous, open space to accommodate communal activities while the upper floor accommodates the more private activities and a large, open, free space near the staircase landing that can be used by the inhabitants as required. The design approach expresses a clear attitude towards an object with an established historical memory, which is rewritten after a careful reinterpretation of the context and the role of the building in its relationship with the elements of urban and rural nature.

Abstract
The design approach expresses a clear attitude towards an object with an established historical memory, which is rewritten after a careful reinterpretation of the context and the role of the building in its relationship with the elements of urban and rural nature.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
