Rogowski coil (RC) based low power current transformer (LPCT) has been widely spread in smart substations for metering and protection applications. In this paper, the transient performance characterization is carried out for a shielded RC based LPCT. For this purpose, an equivalent lumped circuit model taking into account the effect of electrostatic shield screen is constructed and then the transfer function is derived. Experimental validation is conducted by considering the distortion current and faulty current signals.

Abstract
