A Point Cloud-Based Multi-Platform Application to Support the Conservation Project of Medieval Stone Architecture

Digital technology has the potential to fundamentally transform the way we interact with cultural heritage by offering novel solutions for public engagement, education, and preservation. Compared to traditional communication methods, the advantage of delivering content through XR and serious games lies in its capabilities to create immersive and interactive experiences that foster a multidimensional understanding of cultural heritage. This paper presents the design and implementation of a multi-platform digital storytelling experience on how a once-lost medieval village, Ghesc, was brought back to life under recovery and preservation activities. The proposal employs 3D survey point cloud data as direct render primitives, streamlining the process of creating virtual experiences for cultural heritage.
