This paper deals with ‘post-war infills’ built in the Castle District of Budapest which emerge today as retroactive wounds in the historical townscape. In light of architectural revisionism, it presents how their perception changed from ‘contextual masterpieces’ to ‘ill-fitting intruders’. Tracing the respective debate back in time, it proposes a critical reading of journal articles from ‘Hungarian Architecture’ which aims at highlighting the criticalities of contemporary memory politics.
