We demonstrate silicon-based waveguide-integrated blue (405 nm) light photodetectors using alumina waveguides integrated into a silicon photonics platform for the first time. Responsivities above 0.25 A/W are achieved. A novel detector design minimizes back reflections from the waveguide-detector interface.

Abstract
