In recent years, Milan has become Italy's leading university city. The book examines, through a series of essays on each of Milan's universities, the implications of this new condition for the physical and social structure of Milan and, more generally, explores the relationship between the university and the contemporary city. The volume contains essays by Gabriele Pasqui and Paolo Galuzzi and Piergiorgio Vitillo, as well as a conversation between Carles Muro and Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara (Grafton Architects, Dublin), and a photographic essay by Francesca Iovene.
