This paper presents a reduced model to describe the nonlinear dynamic behavior of Stockbridge dampers. The proposed model is based on the classic Bouc-Wen hysteretic law and requires the identification of a small number of model parameters. The proposed formulation is used within an extended version of the classic Energy Balance Method to assess the role of the damper nonlinearities in mitigating aeolian vibrations of a reference overhead transmission line.

Abstract
This paper presents a reduced model to describe the nonlinear dynamic behavior of Stockbridge dampers. The proposed model is based on the classic Bouc-Wen hysteretic law and requires the identification of a small number of model parameters. The proposed formulation is used within an extended version of the classic Energy Balance Method to assess the role of the damper nonlinearities in mitigating aeolian vibrations of a reference overhead transmission line.File in questo prodotto:
