In this paper, there are novel hybrid base isolation systems proposed to imrove the dissipated energy of the base isolation system with shape memory alloy (SMA) wires, ADAS dampers and slit steel dampers. Moreover, there are different shaped steel dampers due to low cost and simple fabrication which can be applied in dissipation system effectively and widely, such as X-shaped damper, J-shaped damper and U-shaped damper. Different steel dampers are analyzed to propose a novel hybrid seismic base isolation system. The novel hyrid base isolation system consisting of unbonded fiber reinforced elastomeric isolator (UFREI) and steel dampers is to be investigated further to improve the energy dissipation capacity of the base isolation system and decrease the displacement of the structure.
