The LocHal Library in Tilburg hosted the satellite meeting of the IFLA ENSULIB (Environment Sustainability and Libraries) section during the last World Library and Information Congress. The choice of the location fell on this library for the characteristics of sustainability in the organizational solutions and for the sustainability of the architectural project for the recovery of the location previously occupied by railway workshops, for which the library has won numerous awards. In the first part, the article focuses on LocHal’s library choices, placing them in the context of government actions to support the national library service of The Netherlands, and underlining its affinities with some other Dutch libraries. In the second part of the article, the characteristics of the architectural project for the recovery of the evidence of industrial archeology and of interior design are explored in depth.
