During the Italian Fascist tyranny, in almost every single urban centre, the "Case del Littorio", or more simply "Littori", were built, public buildings designed to be centres for the meeting of citizens and for the control of cultural and leisure activities by the authorities. In these buildings, several functions could coexist, even those that were not strictly related. After the Second World War, ownership of these buildings was transferred to the State and they continued to be used for recreational purposes, or they were used for other purposes, mainly public services, or their function was changed. Many of these buildings have also been demolished as symbols of a time to be forgotten. Others have fallen into neglect, waiting to be brought back into use. The case of the Palazzo del Littorio in Caronno Pertusella (VA) is taken as an example of this last group. The good quality of the construction, the techniques used and the good flexibility of the spaces designed make these buildings, despite their deterioration, suitable to host modern and contemporary functions, not rarely thanks to their location, and also become the object of sustainable restoration.

Abstract
The good quality of the construction, the techniques used and the good flexibility of the spaces designed make these buildings, despite their deterioration, suitable to host modern and contemporary functions, not rarely thanks to their location, and also become the object of sustainable restoration.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
