Increasing urbanization is leading to a rising volume of traffic in the centers, resulting in a huge impact on pollutant emissions. Public transport has an important role in everyday urban mobility. Therefore, to increase energy efficiency and lessen emissions, many cities around the globe are starting to introduce electric buses for their principal lines. In this article, a study for the electrification of a bus line in Savona is presented. For the necessary charging infrastructure, two different solutions are considered: the introduction of an overhead catenary line in a segment of the path is compared to the more conventional opportunity charging at terminals. Finally, a preliminary economic estimation is carried out to give a more complete evaluation of the two proposed solutions.

Abstract
Increasing urbanization is leading to a rising volume of traffic in the centers, resulting in a huge impact on pollutant emissions. Public transport has an important role in everyday urban mobility. Therefore, to increase energy efficiency and lessen emissions, many cities around the globe are starting to introduce electric buses for their principal lines. In this article, a study for the electrification of a bus line in Savona is presented. For the necessary charging infrastructure, two different solutions are considered: the introduction of an overhead catenary line in a segment of the path is compared to the more conventional opportunity charging at terminals. Finally, a preliminary economic estimation is carried out to give a more complete evaluation of the two proposed solutions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
