This paper presents a literature review highlighting recent trends and results in switching transient mitigation and Controlled Switching (CS) applications. Expanding from the state-of-the-art survey from CIGRÉ WG A3.35 with recent contributions from 2015 to 2022, this review highlights the new opportunities offered by CS technologies in public and industrial distribution systems.
