L’antico Cimitero Parrocchiale di Cassina Savina: Bene Culturale e Museo della memoria collettiva briantea.

The ancient Parish Cemetery of Cassina Savina: Cultural Heritage and Museum of the collective memory of Brianza Built following the cultural and religious-health debate of the twentieth century, the contained cemetery of Cassina Savina constitutes an exemplary architecture of that process that affected the small towns of the vast land of Brianza in the nineteenth century. The essay therefore outlines the historiographical and building vicissitudes from its beginnings, up to the definition of the project for the cessation of burials and the construction of a new cemetery in an area not far from the original one. The text lingers on the cultural reference framework that led, in the years immediately preceding the unification of Italy, the writer and politician Carlo Tenca to icastically define the cemeteries as «silent cities» which arose close to «living cities». The author also reconstructs in great detail the building events of the first cemetery, also making it possible to reconstruct a geography of the building materials used and the companies invited to participate in the tender for the execution of the works.

Costruito a seguito del dibattito culturale e religioso-sanitario del XX secolo, il contenuto cimitero d Cassina Savina costituisce un’architettura esemplare di quel processo che interessò i piccoli centri della vasta terra briantea nell’Ottocento. Il saggio ne delinea, pertanto, le vicissitudini storiografiche ed edilizie dai suoi albori, sino a giungere alla definizione del progetto di cessazione delle sepolture e della costruzione di un nuovo camposanto in un’area poco discosta dalla primigenia. Il testo indugia sul quadro culturale di riferimento che condusse, negli anni immediatamente precedenti all’unità d’Italia, il letterato e politico Carlo Tenca a definire icasticamente i cimiteri come “città silenziose” sorte vicino alle “città viventi”. L’autore, inoltre, ricostruisce con dovizia di particolari le vicende edilizie del primo cimitero, rendendo anche possibile la ricostruzione di una geografia dei materiali da costruzione impiegati e delle aziende invitate a partecipare alla gara di appalto per l’esecuzione dei lavori.
