Focusing on Climate Change (CC) issues, this contribution is based on evidence from a comparative analysis of numerous case studies, within and outside Europe, addressed at counterbalancing CC through institutional and community-based initiatives. Based on the lessons learned, the light will be shed on the main factors that hinder the effectiveness of current mitigation and adaptation practices and on the seeds of innovation arising from them. Then, suggestions will be provided to reframe current approaches to climate issues.
