The project involved citizens and those involved in the Reggio Emilia food donation system to reflect on possible inclusive and circular solutions for the food system in the area. The topics were: smart logistics, the customization of meal distribution services based on nutritional needs and personal/cultural preferences of users, and the use of digital technology in management processes. Among the objectives were the strengthening of interpersonal relationships, the conception of the food distribution system as an instrument with which to inform, educate and involve; a better connection with donors through a donor recognition protocol, and the abandonment of the idea of giving food away as a way of “getting rid of rubbish”.
