The main topic of this chapter is to understand the role and meaning of preparedness issues in global, national, and local policies. National governments have adopted a series of specialized policy measures to control infectious diseases, for which urban areas are the key spatial units. However, focusing on both two diverging main preparedness’ approaches and a spatial example (critical infrastructures), this chapter claims that there is a significant lack of both social sciences research and place-specific contributions towards the framing of national and international preparedness and response policy.

Abstract
The main topic of this chapter is to understand the role and meaning of preparedness issues in global, national, and local policies. National governments have adopted a series of specialized policy measures to control infectious diseases, for which urban areas are the key spatial units. However, focusing on both two diverging main preparedness’ approaches and a spatial example (critical infrastructures), this chapter claims that there is a significant lack of both social sciences research and place-specific contributions towards the framing of national and international preparedness and response policy.File in questo prodotto:
