This paper focuses on the identification of the aluminothermic reaction in molten aluminium bath, inside casting furnaces. A RGB Camera was used to acquire the video from inside of the furnace and three different computer vision algorithms were developed to identify aluminothermic flames. Tests showed that it is possible to identify aluminothermic flames inside the furnace by relying on different image processing techniques on RGB, HSV and Grey scale of images extracted from video frames.
