This paper presents the techno-economic assessment of the CO2 Purification Unit (CPU) included in cement plants based on CO2 capture via oxy-fuel calcination. Two configurations, targeting two different outlet CO2 specifications ('moderate' and 'high' purity), have been optimized in order to minimize the increase in the clinker production cost due to this process unit. Air infiltration rate is the parameter with the highest impact on the operational conditions (e.g. separation pressure) and on the incremental cost of clinker due to the CPU (up to 20% for the worst case considered). The work has been carried out within the framework of the CLEANKER project.

Abstract
This paper presents the techno-economic assessment of the CO2 Purification Unit (CPU) included in cement plants based on CO2 capture via oxy-fuel calcination. Two configurations, targeting two different outlet CO2 specifications ('moderate' and 'high' purity), have been optimized in order to minimize the increase in the clinker production cost due to this process unit. Air infiltration rate is the parameter with the highest impact on the operational conditions (e.g. separation pressure) and on the incremental cost of clinker due to the CPU (up to 20% for the worst case considered). The work has been carried out within the framework of the CLEANKER project.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
