The essay concerns a meditation about the tradition and the general architectural education system in Polythecnical Schools in the Eurepean context. Polytechnic culture unfolded with peculiar characters in the different situations and, within such culture, the history of the Schools of Architecture has promoted the dialectic between the academic and and the technical scientific approaches typical of polytechnic schools, in the constant dialogue between artistic and technical practices.
