The approach to lighting design has changed a lot in the past twenty years, thanks in part to technological innovation resulting from the non-stop evolution of LED light sources and systems. Lighting designers now pay a lot more attention to the human factor than their predecessors, who focused primarily on the aspects of vision, metrology and energy consumption. This evolution of the discipline has encouraged the proliferation of outstanding projects which must be acknowledged as having the merit of helping even the unspecialised to understand the importance of light in the perception of spaces. Spaces have a specific purpose, and their lighting must necessarily be appropriate for it; this is why lighting up a religious building, an architectural façade, a shop, a museum, an office, a home or another type of construction requires very different choices, which must be carefully thought out by the designer.

Abstract
The approach to lighting design has changed a lot in the past twenty years, thanks in part to technological innovation resulting from the non-stop evolution of LED light sources and systems. Lighting designers now pay a lot more attention to the human factor than their predecessors, who focused primarily on the aspects of vision, metrology and energy consumption. This evolution of the discipline has encouraged the proliferation of outstanding projects which must be acknowledged as having the merit of helping even the unspecialised to understand the importance of light in the perception of spaces. Spaces have a specific purpose, and their lighting must necessarily be appropriate for it; this is why lighting up a religious building, an architectural façade, a shop, a museum, an office, a home or another type of construction requires very different choices, which must be carefully thought out by the designer.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
