Alessandro Minali (1888-1960) often dealt with funeral and intentionally monumental architecture. The Antonio Bernocchi Mausoleum at the Monumental Cemetery in Milan (1936) is perhaps the work, precisely funerary and intentionally monumental, which many instantly connect to his name; as well as, obviously, to that of the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni who was at his side. The Monumento ai Martiri della Libertà in Fondotoce close to Verbania (1947) is a work of a completely different nature: a funerary architecture in its own right and not inside a cemetery, although it is, to a certain extent; moreover faced in the second postwar period, recalling personal experiences. The paper looks at this work as a case study paying attention to the materials and therefore to the constructive solutions but also to the collaborations with colleagues and suppliers, not without detailing the conduction of a complex posthumous work.
Alessandro Minali (1888-1960) ha affrontato spesso il tema dell’architettura funeraria o intenzionalmente monumentale. Il mausoleo Antonio Bernocchi al Cimitero monumentale di Milano (1936) forse l’opera, appunto funeraria e intenzionalmente monumentale, che in molti collegano istantaneamente al suo nome; oltre, ovviamente a quello dello scultore Giannino Castiglioni che fu al suo fianco. Il sacrario di Fondotoce (1947) tema di tutt’altra natura: un’architettura funeraria a s stante e non all’interno di un cimitero, pur essendolo, in certa misura; per di pi affrontato nel secondo Dopoguerra, a ricordare vicende personalmente patite. Lo scritto pone l’opera a caso studio con attenzione ai materiali e quindi alle soluzioni costruttive ma anche alle collaborazioni con colleghi e fornitori che ne derivano, non senza illustrare dettagliatamente il compiersi postumo di un’opera complessa.
